Federal and State Labor Relations Boards
Research into Labor Law and Arbitration Decisions
A very informative
article on “Researching Labor Arbitration and Alternative Dispute
Resolution in Employment” by
Suzanne Thorpe and Laura J. Cooper, originally published at 91(2) Law
Library Journal 367
(Spring 1999), can be found online at http://www.llrx.com/features/adr.htm. This
site has links to several collections of arbitration decision summaries.
And, of course, the gold standard for arbitration decisions are two competing
publications, neither of which is online: CCH, Labor
Arbitration Awards (looseleaf volume) and/or Bureau of National
Affairs, Inc. [BNA] 1946 -- , Labor Arbitration Reports. BNA
is available also in CD-ROM format and online at http://laborandemploymentlaw.bna.com/ (this
is a subscription service that charges) and has a good topical
index.
A description of Westlaw arbitration databases relating to Federal
Government labor-management cases: http://www.dol.gov/oasam/library/law/lawtips/westarbitrationdbs.htm
For finding recent Supreme Court decisions, Cornell Law School’s
Legal Information Institute has a searchable collection of decisions from
1992 onwards and a topically arranged list of case summaries for the current
term: http://supct.law.cornell.edu/supct/index.html
